Lord of the Rings Online Now Free-to-Pay

After some notice, LotR Online is now free to play, microtransactions abound of course. The limitations seem pretty descent between the three tiers of payment options, until you hit things like Destiny Points. These items are how you get new skills and traits and are not even spendable unless you subscribe to the top tier. That's a pretty huge drawback to anyone building a character, and demanding the priciest option for access seems pretty grabby. You also only get access to the main game, the expansions must be purchased for access to the new areas as well as getting benefits like the expanded level 60 cap.

You could call the freeplay option an expanded demo really as any serious play will require the Blizzard standardized $15/month plan.
