The oldschool of us out there remember BBS's and more importantly, Door Games with a revered fondness like that of a childhood memory. Muds are a derivative of these early creations and paved the way for games like WoW with their multi-user, perpetual world to be explored. While graphical clients exist, the classic text parser interface remains in use by the majority and Mudlet, having reached v1.0 after a year, is a multi-platform gateway to those realms. While not containing all the bells and whistles of zMud, Mudlet is free and has many of the important advancements that seasoned mudders want.It's surprising that iphone mud clients are not more popular with their low bandwidth and pick up and play nature.
